What your neighbors are telling us… Not necessarily the position of the MPSA…

Prostitution - Thought I’d let you know that I made a 911 call this morning to report a trespasser sitting on the wall of our driveway. He was wearing a motorcycle helmet and smoking a cigarette and looked to be in no hurry to go anywhere and from my window I couldn’t see any sign of a bike. I let the dogs out on the deck and they barked but he didn’t seem concerned in the least. After about 10 minutes I called the police to report him. They were very prompt in sending someone to check him out. As I was talking to the 911 operator the fellow got off the wall and looked to be crawling under my deck! It turns out he was using my electrical outlet to charge his motorcycle!! The bike was against the wall so from my windows it was out of sight. He must have been wandering the property to find the outlet which is dead center under the deck. Fortunately the bike wouldn’t start and the patrolman arrived in time to question him, get his ID and warn him to stay off private property.

Stolen bikes I recently had three locked up bikes stolen from my porch, never to be seen again. Now I find a Rock Harbor Roadmaster men’s bike abandoned by a tree at 10th/Myrtle this morning. MPSA NOTE: If you are missing a bike, contact us at info@midtownponce.org

Plant Theft - I went out this morning to get the paper and discovered that a large planter had been taken.  It was a large, urn shaped pot, medium green, about 36″ tall with several types of plants in it. Value, I’m guessing, including the pot the plants and the soil, about $ 100.

Nasty, nasty transvestite prostitutesLast night there were prostitutes on 3rd Street throughout the night.  We called 911 once at 3:00 AM and the lady asked whether the prostitute was a man or woman and I said a man dressed as a woman and she said thanks and hung up without asking the questions that are asked most times making me think it may not have been dispatched.  We then called 911 again at 5:00 AM when two prostitutes were arguing loudly outside.  Yesterday, I cleaned up two dime bags, two condoms and two used hypodermic syringes from inside my backyard.  And the biggest sign of the increased prostitution activity is the jolly rancher wrappers discarded everywhere (what they eat after servicing a client).

We know the police are hampered by the restrictive laws that make it hard to arrest prostitutes for prostitution.  We also know many of the prostitutes are right back on the street even after your officers make an arrest.  At the same time, we are concerned by the increase in prostitution and drug activity that seems to be coming back between Myrtle and Juniper and 3rd and 4th streets and we are hope there are steps you can take to help curb this.

Plant theft #2 - [Name omitted] spotted some odd behavior about 6am. A white man – approximately mid to late 20s – wearing a white t-shirt, plaid shorts and flip flops in the 5’9″ range parked his silver Honda (?) in front of a neighbor’s house. He got out and walked all the way up to Charles Allen on the sidewalk, then walked out of sight.

When he came back, he threw something onto his windshield, then crossed the street and paused in front of our neighbor’s house, then walked down to the park on Greenwood and around it. During that time, [Name omitted] got the license plate – BWK5249 Fulton County.

When he came back again, he stopped at [neighbor’s house] house and broke off a leaf of her Hosta plant, walked back to his car, picked up what appeared to be his earlier stash of another plant piece, got in his car and left.

Prostitution update 9/15/2010

September 15, 2010 · Posted in Eye on Midtown · Comment

In response to complaints about transvestite prostitutes in the southwest portion of our service area, APD has stepped up their overnight presence in the area. This has reduced prostitution activity overall but the prostitutes are still coming around to get what they can. Police are driving around with blue lights activated at times, and come to the area to do paperwork when they can. Sgt. Cooper has been patrolling the area during the overnight hours on his motorcycle. All of these things together have led to a decrease in prostitution, and the residents in that area have noticed a difference.

It appears we are catching the fallout of some changes that have occurred in the Spring & 3rd area, which is where the worst of the transvestite prostitution has been taking place in the last couple of years. New public security cameras have been installed in that area, driving much of this element away. Also, the closing of a nightclub in that area has cause some of the dirt to fly around, and some of it is landing in our area.

Their presence in the area always brings a smörgåsbord of problems, including noise, litter, street fights, and drug activity.

Street Criminal Profile: Christopher Stockton

One of the more aggressive transvestite prostitutes was found to have an arrest warrant issued in Barrow County. Christopher Stockton was arrested last week while plying his trade in our service area, and taken to the Fulton County Jail for Barrow County authorities to pick up. He often loiters in the Ponce & Penn area when not in jail. His publicly viewable rap sheet at the Department of Corrections includes sentences for Theft by Taking, Burglary, and Cocaine Possession. He also appears in a series of porn videos featuring many of the vagrants and street hustlers in our area as “Miss Thang.” Below are some mugshots and screenshots we have found for this problematic individual.
