Dramatic crash on Myrtle Street

(8/30/14 around 1am) – Good morning and happy Saturday on this holiday weekend. A dramatic crash on Myrtle Street helps to end Summer in Midtown with a bang. This car being followed by police was traveling southbound on Myrtle Street at a very high rate of speed, when the driver lost control at 5th street, swerving off to the leftside sidewalk, skidding across a front yard before turning to its side and coming to rest. According to folks living on that block, it was loud enough to wake the dead. The driver got out of the car and fled the scene – police have not caught him yet. According to unofficial APD sources on the scene, the car was not noted in the system as stolen at that time. The APD crime scene lady came out and dusted the car for prints before it was hauled off to the junkyard. Thankfully nobody was hurt, though the folks at that address sustained considerable damage to their front garden and steps. Channel 2 and Channel 11 were on the scene, so look for news reports with additional information.
