Report Narratives from 10/22 Robberies

We now have two robbery reports from incidents this weekend. MPSA Board member Steve Gower notes, “I am not clear about the second one – I saw the ambulance on 8th at Charles Allen, and not at Myrtle. Officers canvassing the neighborhood told me there had been a robbery there, and another location. It could be that that the victim was robbed at Myrtle, but reported from the vicinity of 8th & Charles Allen. The bottom line, though, is that we just had two robberies too many.” Police report a total of two such incidents at that hour.

Police Report Narratives (with MPSA edits to remove victim names):

#1: On 10-22-11 at approximately 2:40am APD responded to a pedestrian robbery call [that had taken place] at Penn Ave at 6th Street NE. [The victim reported from a friend's house on 9th Street]. At this location the victim advised he was robbed at gunpoint by three males on the corner of Penn Ave at 6th St. The victim stated, “While walking down 6th St, I saw the break lights of a dark vehicle parked facing the wrong way on Penn Ave NE. As I got closer to the intersection a male who was standing outside the vehicle immediately approached me pointing a black gun at my head saying, ‘Give me everything you have, your wallet, and money.’ Then two other males got out of the car and took my cell phone, and was searching my pants pockets. The male with gun then told me to get on the ground and start crawling. As I got onto the ground the other two males were still searching my pockets. I started to crawl away in the opposit direction and they ran getting into the car driving northbound.” The victim described the suspects: BM/5’10/approx. early 20′s/ skinny/clean shaven/black hoodie/with black gun in right hand.////BM/5’8/approx early 20′s/ skinny/clean shaven/black hoodie/////BM/6’0/approx early 20′s/ skinny/clean shaven/ black sweater////vehicle black 90s model possible a Corolla type. The victim further advised he has a tracking device on his cell phone but has to wait for AT&T to open to activate the GPS. There are no surveillance cameras, no witness. The victim was shaken, but he advised he was not injured.

#2: On October 22 2011, at 2:30am, APD responded to 428 8th Street on a reported Pedestrian Robbery. Upon my arrival I spoke with the victim, who stated that he had just been robbed at the intersection of 8th Street and Myrtle Street. The victim stated that while walking home at approximately 2:30am, he was robbed by three black males dressed in dark clothing. He advised that he was listening to music so he could not hear them approach him from behind. The victim was hit in the head with what he described as a silver gun. The hit left a laceration above his left eye. The three suspects took the victm’s black Nokia cell phone, his brown fossil wallet containing his license and other important cards and papers, a black I-pod and his keys. Because of his injury the victim was unable to see the tag of the vehicle or the direction of travel. He could only advise the color and that it was a large sedan type car. The victim’s injury was examined by EMS unit 302. They transported him to Emory for further treatment on the laceration over his left eye. The area where the location occurred was searched to see if anyone matching the description could be found or a vehicle of similar color could be located. Neither could be found. At the time of this incident, there was nothing further to report.
