MPSA Mailbag 9/18/2009

What the neighbors tell us – as always, mailbag items do not necessarily reflect MPSA position…

Porch furniture stolen - Want to report that a piece of porch furniture was stolen from our front porch on 8th St sometime between 10am 9/15 and 7am on 9/16. We feel that it was most likely between 4 and 5pm, but can not be certain. Someone was home during that time and the dog was going nuts. Now we wish that we had followed up on what was upsetting her. It was a beige/tan faux wicker loveseat with a green and white floral/tropical cushion, just in case anyone sees it around. The most amazing part is the audacity of our criminals today. our house sits very high from the street and anyone removing something from the porch is broad view of all of 8th Street, and then they would have to carry the item, rather large in this case, down the very steep steps and driveway just to get to the street. We have lived in this house for 11.5 years and this is the first time we have had ANYTHING taken from the porch, unfortunately it probably won’t be the last. We have now removed the remaining furniture from the porch and will be securing it with cables when we do put it back out. The upside is that it was an insignificant monetary loss. The worst part is the negativity it has bred and the indicator this is for what is going on in the neighborhood.
